Barry Trotz Said The Caps Can Repeat, And Told Them He Can Now Die A Happy Man
“All Summer I wanted to say this- we fucking did it.”
What a lovely speech from Trotz. Just wonderful. You can really tell how much the Caps mean to Trotz, as well as Lane Lambert and Mitch Korn. Obviously Trotz was going to be emotional, but it was just so sincere. He, along with Lambert, brought this group of guys together, fought through every up and down, and there were a lotttt of downs (hey remember when Ovi was a bum who would never make it out of the 2nd round? Classic.). Mitch Korn developed Holtby into a Vezina winning goalie, and I consider him a bigger loss than Trotz.
And the best part- “you guys can do it again”. He knows how good this team is. And that was before the Caps dominated the Islanders last night. The Isles aren’t even a bad team. The Caps are just…just really good again. Returning everyone from a Stanley Cup winning team besides the backup goalie and 4th line center sets up a strong base to go back to back, some would say.
And if all we need to do to go back to back is “go through the fucking Island”….welll…you better buy a shirt now then.
